Christmas dinner is one of the most exciting parts of celebrating the holidays with friends and family. Often planning out the menu becomes challenging, especially when trying not to make it too similar to your Thanksgiving menu. Luckily, I got you covered! I've been doing some research on a delicious Christmas menu that'll keep your guests wanting to come back for more. These recipes come from the most amazing chefs such as Gordon Ramsay and Martha Stewart. But first, let's talk about some tips on how to plan the best Christmas Menu.
It's important for your appetizers to not be too heavy, as the main dishes are the heaviest and the dishes you want your guests to really savor. But it is always important to make sure each dish counts. This year, I'm starting off dinner with a choice of a cheese board the contains an assortment of cheeses, aged salami and olive, and tomato bisque with homemade croutons. These are fairly light dishes that will keep your guests satisfied before the actual main entrees. Soups are one of the best things to start your appetizer with as they will enhance more flavor in the mains.
Side dishes should be able to compliment your main dish very well in terms of flavor and texture. This year for main dish, I am serving a roast turkey with lemon, parsley, and garlic, as this was a favorite dish from my family. Although turkey is seen as more of a thanksgiving main dish, it isn't bad to use it on Christmas as well. My side dishes to compliment the turkey contain fluffy mashed potatoes, creamed spinach with bacon, creamy garlic Parmesan mushrooms, etc. These dishes compliment the roast turkey in terms of both flavor and texture, such that you have creamy, salty, and herbal elements in the dishes.
I recommend desserts to be light and airy. This is what gave me the idea to add light cake. This Japanese Christmas cake is a light creamy sponge cake that isn't too filling, but a perfect way to end of the Christmas feast and definitely goes well with a cup of coffee.
I hope you enjoyed these tips! Don't forget to share with your friends and family. Happy Holidays!
