This year, I decided to give my gifts a little decor on the outside, as it isn't just what's on the inside that counts, it's also what is presented on the outside. I was inspired to do these gift wrapping decorations by various Pinterest photos. There is not an exact way you have to decorate your wrapping and it is all up to how you want to configure them and what you desire to add on them. It's all about the aesthetic. Here are some ways I have decorated my gifts for the holidays.
I learned from my father that brown paper wrapping gives off both an organic and comforting feeling when it comes to gift; and he was most certainly right. For this type of decor, black paper wrapping may also work. But I recommend no designs on the wrapping and to keep it plain and simple. The decorations that will go over the wrapping is what will design the wrapping. I bought this wrapping from Amazon for $21.99. Of course they have cheaper options but I love the material and wanted longer wrapping. The brown twine added more of an organic element as it wraps around the pine bush bunch.
Now you may be wondering, where can I get these individual pine bush twigs? Well these didn't come in individual sets. The secret to getting these are buying a branch of of the fake pine bush twigs. These can be found at Michael's. Originally they were supposed to be sold for $9.99 but because they have a clearance sale during the holiday season , they were only $3.99.
The assorted pine bush comes as shown. These are mainly used for decorations around the house, but I decided to pull out the twigs and assort them on my gift wrapping. They're topped off with frosted sparkles which introduce a magical element to your gifts. And like I've said before, there is not an exact way to assort them or an exact pairing to do. It is totally up to you. If the twigs keep falling off, you can always glue them or tape them together. Here are a few more ways I have designed my gifts using the same material.
The decorative ribbons do not need to be brown twine, but you can use different colored ones as well. On this gift, I am using a pairing of red & white twine to tie the gift tag and I used a regular red ribbon as the base.
The gift tags do not need to be wooden, I just used the wooden tags for the aesthetic, but regular paper tags work just as fine. They also sell them in chalk board material for $4.99 but because it was on clearance for the holiday season, it's $1.99.
For gifts for the ladies, I clipped some cute hair clips onto my gifts. These are from Amazon that I bought in a pack of 15 pieces for $10.99. In these 15 pieces, it came with a variety of different metal designed hair clips. Thee individual feathers are $9.99 for a pack of three.
They not only add a bold, rich element to your gift design, but it gives the gift receiver a cute addition to their gift that they can wear anytime. I used a variety of hair clips for some of my gifts that were also bought from Amazon. They have cheaper options and more variety so any cute hair clips will do. Although, if you do decide to use hair clips, I recommend sticking to metal ones with cute designs. Here are a few more ways I have designed them using the hair clips:
